Tide pools

The tides were just right this year for a trip to the tide pools. This adventure was even more fun as the boys get more adventurous and inquisitive with each year.

Adventure Details

You had to get up early to catch the low tide this week. There is a good mile hike through beautiful wheat fields on a misty Mendocino morning. We were ready and the boys were willing.

The view of the Pacific Ocean and the rock formations are breath taking. Once you pass over the edge of the cliffs you enter a whole new world. Parts of the ground look as though you could have landed on the moon. The boys are completely engaged in hunting for creatures of all kinds.
We could find anemones, crab, urchins, abalone, hermit crabs and shells galore. It was amazing to see fields of deep brown seaweed, bright green mosses and millions of purple muscles. There wasn't a rock we wouldn't climb or look under and as you will see no limit to the depths Ed would go to find our perfect shell.
